Name of Person

Shina DeWitt

I was born in Loris South Carolina and raised in North Myrtle Beach. My two daughters, Alexandria and Jada, are truly a blessing and the center of my world. I am a woman of faith and a proud partner of Cornerstone Community Church in Bamberg, SC. I was a teen mom in high school. That chapter of my life taught me that a person can accomplish whatever God has for them, no matter the circumstances.

I attended Orangeburg Technical College where I received an associate degree in criminal justice. I started my law enforcement career at the Bamberg County Detention Center. So often I would see troopers come in the jail and at that time I had never seen a female trooper. I thought that would be a challenge, so I set my sights on becoming a SC State Trooper.

I was employed with the city of Denmark as a police officer from 2008 to 2014 where I was able to ascend in ranks to Lieutenant. In 2014, I transitioned to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.  In 2015, I received Employee of the Quarter and Trooper of the Year for Troop 7, Post A. I’m a certified Fitness Trainer under the International Sports and Sciences Association. I enjoy fitness training because I love meeting new people, helping people achieve there fitness goals, and making the workouts fun and different. In addition to fitness training, I enjoy spending time with my daughters, attending church, watching movies, working out, and drawing.
